Licensure Only Special Admits (LOSA) Status in Professional Counseling

Applicability:

Individuals with a Master's degree seeking to enroll in any master's level coursework in Professional Counseling in order to fulfill state licensure requirements (i.e., Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing [DOPL]) will be considered based on the criteria and policies specified below for Licensure Only Special Admits (LOSA) status.

Timing:

The committee will consider and review such applicants during its regular Spring admissions process. Applicants should ensure that they have met the steps below prior to the admissions meeting.

Enrollment Limits:

In order to maintain the quality of training in our courses, we will limit LOSA status to a minimum number of students depending on our resources.

General Requirements:

1. Provide Evidence of a Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a closely-related field.

2. Either:

(a) submit a DOPL review of your transcript if you are pursuing Professional Counseling licensure (preferred method),

or

(b) meet with the master's training coordinator to identify courses for a plan of study related to licensure.

3. Submit:

  • a formal departmental application (with accompanying $55.00 application fee made payable to the Department of Educational Psychology)
  • official graduate transcript(s)
  • Three (3) letters of reference
  • Letter of support from master’s training coordinator
